“The Workplace” is a commonly used term for the place where people work on their jobs. I personally cannot stand this term. It’s so antiseptic, so impersonally business, even sort of politically correct. And if “workplace” is the correct descriptive terminology for our place of employment, wouldn’t such terminology be used for everything else as well? We go to our house after work, so is it “The Home Place”? We sleep in the bedroom, so it must be “The Sleep Place”. When we eat at a restaurant, let’s call it “The Food Place”. We go to a bank, hey, it’s “The Money Place”! I’ll put my car in the driveway, also known as “The Parking Place”! And on, and on, and on! So a little objective analysis reveals that the term “workplace” is actually a silly and ridiculous term created and used by the silly and ridiculous people in the dull, obnoxious, and repulsive world of business. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go to “The Crap Place”, er uh, I mean the bathroom.
